Mountain Reedbuck is medium-size with a long, hairy coat that is grey with a reddish sheen, the neck is brown. The belly and underside of its bushy tail are white, there are black spots below the ears. Only the males have horns; they curve forward near the level of the tips of the ears which are rounded with a white fringe.
Mountain Reedbuck rest in shade during the heat of the day, grazing and drinking in early morning, late afternoon, and even at night.
They run with a rocking-horse motion and the white underside of the tail showing.
Enemies include leopard, python, and brown hyena.
