The kudu,  with its magnificent spiral horns is a favorite with safari hunters and photographers alike.   The body size and weight of the kudu are comparable to the elk in North America.  Kudu are common throughout most of South Africa; preferring thick bush.  They are not found in open grassland.  Kudu are almost exclusively browsers and are vulnerable during drought.
