Scientific name- Oryx gazella Gemsbok prefer open grass plains in semi-desert regions and dry savannah. Both male and female have long straight horns and have a life expectancy of approximately 19 years. They can survive long periods without water. In North America, they are commonly called Oryx and are abundant at the White Sands Missle Range in New Mexico. |
