Black Wildebeest is found in the central part of South Africa in open grassland.  During the heat of the day, it will stand out in the open rather than take shade.  Males are found in bachelor herds or as lone, territorial bulls.

Wildebeest, both black and blue, are often called clowns of the veldt; they are comical in both appearance and behavior.
